Getting excited got to check on team South Africa, Swimming South Africa should by now have a few medals in the bag, just checked and we have, oh we still have zero medals. All the money spent, all the politics and all the racial bickering that has taken place what more could one expect.
Double standards and the blatant disregard for all the disciplines within the aquatic umbrella has left SwimSA with egg on its face but they will more than likely quote the founder of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin: "The important thing is not winning but taking part. What counts in life is not the victory but the struggle; the essential thing is not to conquer but to fight well." One could be fooled by this however water polo did not go to the games because they were not going to win a medal. Taking part in Beijing would be a waste of money and time. The more I look at the whole Aquatics regime the more I feel as if I am in the Twilight Zone. |
